Service Package with a Haldex Service in Genuine Boxed
Add the last seven characters of your VIN in the order notes, with the engine code if you have it, and we check the part against the build record before dispatch.
A service done properly: the service and the four wheel drive fluid, which is the other one nobody does.
We are an independent parts supplier. We are not Volkswagen, Audi, Seat or Skoda, and we are not appointed by any of them. Those are their trademarks and what we sell are parts that fit their cars. The useful thing about this group is that four badges share platforms and share parts, so the same component fits a Golf, an A3, a Leon and an Octavia and costs four different amounts at four different counters. We list it once, at one price, and tell you which platform it belongs to.
Specification and fitment
- Fits: Golf Mk5 Mk6 Mk7 Mk8, Passat B6 B7 B8, A3 8P 8V 8Y, A4 B8 B9, Leon 1P 5F KL, Octavia 1Z 5E NX, and the other group cars on the same platforms
- Platform: chosen above. This part is shared across the group. The Volkswagen, the Audi, the Seat and the Skoda all take it, it is the same component in four different boxes, and the price here is the same whichever badge is on your car. Choose your badge above for your records, not because it changes anything.
- Engine: chosen above. The oil specification differs between them and we use the right one rather than a universal 5W30
- Production dates: 2003 to 2022
- Quality: supplied in the group's own packaging with the group part number on it. Worth the premium where a warranty claim, a lease return or a full main dealer history depends on it, and not otherwise
- Part number: cross referenced to the group part number for your VIN and confirmed before dispatch. We do not print one number against a listing that covers several supersessions, because on this group the supersessions are the whole point
- The failure this addresses: a service interval, or a history that needs restarting on a car bought without one
- Labour time: two to five hours depending on the schedule, included in the price
- Coding: the service interval and the oil quality channel are reset through the diagnostic system rather than the dashboard button sequence, because the button only clears the display and leaves the underlying counter where it was
- Also needed: everything is included. There is no oil surcharge and no sundries line on the invoice
- Torque: sump plug and filter housing to figure. An overtightened plastic filter housing is an oil warning three weeks later
- Interval: we will switch the car to the fixed schedule if that suits how you actually drive, and tell you honestly which you should be on. The group's long life servicing regime stretches the oil interval on the basis of how the car has been driven. It suits a motorway car and it is actively bad for a car doing short cold journeys, which is most cars. A great many tired engines in this group are tired because they were serviced to the long life schedule in town. Switching to the fixed schedule costs one extra oil change every two years and it is the cheapest thing you can do for one of these engines.
- Weight: approximately 21.0 kilograms of parts
- Warranty: one year or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first on the parts and the work
- Long life or fixed: The group's long life servicing regime stretches the oil interval on the basis of how the car has been driven. A great many tired engines in this group are tired because they were serviced to the long life schedule in town. - Oil specification: the group runs several approval numbers and they are not interchangeable. A car with a particulate filter needs a low ash oil and getting that wrong costs a filter
- The report: photographs of everything we found, whether or not you asked, and a clear split between what needs doing now and what can wait a year
- The two forgotten fluids: DSG at 40,000 miles and Haldex at 20,000. Neither is in the basic schedule and both are the difference between a car that gets to 150,000 miles and one that does not
- Service record: printed and stamped, plus the entry in the car's own electronic record
What arrives
- engine oil to the correct group specification
- oil, air, cabin and fuel filters as the schedule requires
- spark plugs on petrol engines
- brake fluid
- the labour and a written report with photographs
- a stamped service record
Fitting
At our workshop, two to five hours. You get the old parts in a box if you want them, photographs of anything we found, and a report that separates now from later. The service interval is reset through the diagnostic system rather than the dashboard button, because the button clears the display and leaves the counter where it was.
Which version to buy
The tier question on a service is only about filters and plugs, and the honest answer is that the OE supplier parts come off the same line as the dealer ones. The decision that actually matters on this group is not the tier, it is the schedule.

Where a water pump, tensioner or single use bolt must be replaced at the same time, it is in the kit and the listing says so.
